Asia, is a region of the Eurasian-African continent or the eastern part of the Eurasian continent, with a total area of approximately 44.579 million square kilometers, accounting for approximately 8.6% of the Earth's total area (29.4% of the total land area); Asia has a population of approximately 4.5 billion people. Accounting for about 61% of the world's total population (2019), it is the largest and most populous continent among the seven continents. Asia is one of the cradles of human civilization and the birthplace of the world's three major religions, Buddhism, Islam and Christianity. Three of the four ancient civilizations (Babylonia, ancient India, and Chinese civilization) are located in Asia.
